Whiteline Diff. Bushing's Orientation
Whiteline's directions say to delete the upper OE large black metal washer between the top side of the bushing and the subframe. I'd like to confirm if this is what the community is doing.
Also, they don't mention the lower OE rubber isolator which looks like a washer between the lower metal washer and bushing. Is this retained? Thanks for any experience you can lend. :tiphat: |
I just looked under my car and I don't have the rubber isolator installed. Same bushing kit as well.
edit: i also don't have the top washer between subframe and bushing installed. |
Gotcha, yes Whiteline says to not install the upper metal.
Upon deleting the bottom rubber isolater there is a gap between the large washer at the bolt head and the bushing. The gap's only around the outer 2/3 of the bushing surface, I assume that's due to the beveled surface of the bushing. |

After much measuring and comparision, here is how I did mine:
I did not re-use the OEM sheet metal dust sheild. I did add a custom steel washer I bought at the hdw store to place between the body and the top thick poly bushing. You can see it in the second pic. This would shim the pinion down just slightly. Works perfectly for years now. Do not reverse the thick and thin whiteline bushings or you will have noise and vibration. BTW: whitelines instructions are bad, really bad. |
