![]() I assume the repair is made from the inside so I might as well do a new LSD at the same time. What type of facility is best suited for said work? In in the S. Florida area if anyone can recommend a shop. Thanks for any insight you can lend. ![]()

Inside the CV joint itself? There is grease in there, usually it's not liquid.

Is the hole in the middle all the way through the shaft? If so, it either was overfilled or got hot and puked it in there. I would suggest a diff cooler if the hole is all the way through the shaft.

No hole in the CV Shaft side only what appears to be a hole at the back against the differential side of the flange all the way inside the "cup" that can be seen in the pic I posted above.

That is sofa king weird the lube is in there and the hole doesn't go through the axle stub. Maybe someone lubed them for easy removal.

i have never seen a hole straight through the stub shaft.. usualy there is a little divot from the centerdrill used for machining but it shouldn't go all the way through? i would be tempted to say it is a defect but nissan might have changed it. it we be a really stupid place to put a vent holeas none of that area is sealed. i would be tempted to say someone lubed it for easy dissassembly. check to see if the hole goes all the through the stub flange if it does i would check with a dealer to see if they made a change to it and if not get a new stub flange.

The stub axles I have sitting on the bench have centering dimples for machining. But no hole all the way through.
Check the back side of the CV joint for anything that doesn't look normal.

This is what I thought. OP pop the stub axle out of the diff and see if it's damaged. If not I bet somebody just lubed the crap out of it when they put it together.

Upon further inspection there isn't light shining through the stub so I assume the hole doesn't go all the way through.
