JWT C2 cams

1 Attachment(s)
I figured since Specialty Z will be pulling my blown motor and installing my spare that I'd go ahead and have them install a set of JWT C2 cams. Then I read this on Z1's website. My spare motor is a 2017.

:icon14:

You would have to remove the heads to install them just for the machine work.

You aren't going to build the motor? I have a set of Carrillo Pro A beam rods and some custom Diamond 11:1 pistons for sale soon.

Spooler 02-09-2021 09:50 PM

Let me know. I will let them go for a reasonable price.

My money tree is pretty bare. As soon as you said "custom", all I could see is $$$$$ :rofl2:

Well, I told you not to do it.

Actually, I'm not sure that was the cause. It may a loud whirring noise, almost like a belt broke and got wrapped around pulleys before the motor blew. Belts are still intact. I think my ic still may have had impeller debris in it then finally got lodged loose and sucked into the motor. We were having a hard time getting it to make power after the first sc broke. It took almost 3 psi more to make the same power.

His car's at Specialty Z right now. Seb gave me his info yesterday. I'm still weighing my options.

I also have my FI stage 1 turbos and 1050 ID injectors. FI will make you the rest of the kit which may be cheaper still. I will make you a great deal.

It just seems that SC for the Z have more issues than turbo cars, but that might be because of my own bias.

We may be talking about those turbos. I know the stage 1 are a little on the small size. Kind of like the gtr turbos.

If you just go with the basic sc set up and have a competent installer then there really aren't any issues with the sc. The problem is, there aren't any real sc experts for our car and there are a lot of unknown's when getting into the stage my car was in. A lot of trial and error.

There's a carb legal tt kit for the z that's getting close to approval that sounds interesting. Since it's going to be a few months before my car goes to Seb, my options are open.

The stage 1 turbos I have are GT2860 RS. They can make over 700whp but on a stock block I got five years not going more than 620whp. The only issue I had was for tracking because they were into boost at about 2500 rpms so modulating the power in first and second was not doable. There was no boost by gear two years ago either with ECU tech.

I talked to JWT today and they said the head machining isn't limited to years. Any year could could have issues with the lobe clearance. It just depends on how that particular head was casted. If it was off a little bit then it may have a little extra casting material that needs to be ground off. It can be done with the head(s) on. You obviously just need to make sure you get all the shavings removed. They have a tutorial on their C9 cams that shows the process.
