That's really not all that long of a storage period. I imagine that the water present would be minimal. With the high oil temps this car runs, I bet it'll boil off rather quickly.

JSPEED 04-19-2014 05:13 PM

Should I change the oil now since it's been at least 6 months?

Jit13 04-19-2014 05:21 PM

Alright thanks I will keep an eye on the dipstick just in case

That's a function of use, not time.

I completely agree.

Every oil company I have talked to about their fully synthetic says that there really isn't a shelf life, and that it will last years.
Even when I asked about it sitting in the engine, they said it doesn't matter.

And I agree that if condensation built up. Just drive it for a while, get the oil hot, and bye bye condensation!

Yes and make sure you only use the Nissan Ester oil. Don't listen to these yahoos selling you some snake oil ******** about redline this and mobil 1 that. All garbage.

jaedub 04-19-2014 05:58 PM

I daily drive my Z and I get it changed every 4k-5k miles. If you drive it hard, I suggest you get your oil change sooner.

Oil change intervals?

I have a 2015 with 1000 miles on it and about to take a trip and add another 2000. Ive been through that manual front to back and cant seem to find the changing intervals. The only thing I found was I didnt need to do a break in change and it says changing oil inintervals very by usage and oil type. So wtf? What are you guys doing? And what type of oil are you using?

falconfixer 05-02-2015 03:40 PM

5000 miles on the 2015s. Please edit your post and not ask what oil to use.

jmayz 05-02-2015 04:21 PM

I dont mean what brand, but the manual doesnt even specify if synthetic is in these. It just says it comes with the finest nissan oil.

vtec to vvel 05-02-2015 05:05 PM

....really dude?

falconfixer 05-02-2015 05:10 PM

I won't flame ya but most here will smell blood in the water. 2014 Nissan changed oil change intervals from 3750 to 5000 miles. The Z uses from the factory what they call Nissan Ester oil. It is a sythethic that will run you upwards to $15/qt depending on the stealership or you can find deals on here. Others will chime in that Mobil 1 or some other suitable substitute is just fine, and it is. It's up to you what you put in there but I suggest go what you feel is right and the right viscosity.

Now, wait for the lockdown....

Every 5,000. If you drive on stop and go and very aggressive driving style then less. Synthetic is best to run on the Zs.

sofaonasock 05-02-2015 07:49 PM

I just change mine every 7500 miles.
