It will be ok, but I would not let it go for very long. Oil that sits for a long time can degrade over time. At the end of the day, treat your Z right.......get the oil changed. Frequent Oil Changes is the one thing you can do to lengthen motor life.
You can never go wrong by changing your oil. BTW, I too store my care for the winter. I change the oil before storage and change it again soon after I take it out of storage.

There are quite a few that use Redline, Mobil1, Castrol or brands as long as its marked FULL SYNTHETIC since the VVL is dependent on this to keep the valve-train quiet. I would just change it and recommend 5k interval oil changes. |

I did my first change at 1,000 miles. I only do about 6,0000 miles per year so I change mine every 6 months.
Manual says every 3,750 or 3 months. I figure that since I am under on the mileage that 6 months is close enough. Since I drive it regularly I am not going to change every 3 months.

Depends on how you drive, what kind of oil (and filter) you use, environmental conditions, &c. For warranty purposes, stick to the 3750mi/3month schedule. If you are not worried about the warranty, I'd suggest changing every 4-6 months unless you have reason to believe it needs more frequent changes.

Oil does have an "expiration date" - the oil breaks down over time. Plus there is a good chance that you have some condensation in the engine, especially if it is stored where the temperature fluctuates. Personally, I'd change the oil/filter before starting the car after a long storage period (> 3-4 months). When in doubt, change it. You can't change oil/filter too often.

If you go 5k watch the dipstick....my car liked to drink any 5w-30 I put in it(still within nissan parameters on a new block), using 5w-40 rotella now, using very little in comparision.

Oil doesn't break down over time in storage, but condensation does accumulate. You can change your oil in the spring to get rid of that little bit of water, or you can drive it to boil it off. Personally, I wouldn't bother with changing it. The reason to change oil is if and when acids and combustion byproducts accumulate, or if the additives break down from shear. That's a function of use, not time.

Dont. Drive it and make sure you get it warm when you do drive. You will not see any performance advantage to changing it. You sound like you are a once or twice a year guy. Warranty is not an issue in terms of changes. Just make sure you use the recommended oil. We use 15000km changes here in Germany. Its the same motor. Driving conditions matter much more than time. Dusty, harsh or lots of stop and go require a bit more frequent changes.
With so little driving id be much more concerned about flat spotted tires and water intrusion into your brake fluid. When you do change it go with synthetic without question. The car deserves it and the motor will warm this oil quite easily under loaded/performance conditions. Never ever use cheap oil. |

Pennzoil Platinum is a good oil. That should be just fine, as would most full synthetics from reputable companies. Nissan recommends an oil with an ester additive to minimize noise with vvel. This is where the Nissan ester oil comes from. From what I remember, the Nissan oil is really just conventional and not all that good. And it's needlessly expensive.
