ECU Reset
I'd like to reset my ECU to minimize the CEL risk after my HFC install and have the car 'learn' the new setup faster. Looks like I can do this with just a disconnect of the negative battery terminal. Aside from the window reset, what else will I have to reprogram? I'm guessing my maintenance warnings will need to be reprogrammed along with the clock. Any radio lock issues with the Bose? Any advice is welcome. Didn't find a specific ecu reset with search on the site but google looked like the battery disconnect was the way to do it. Please, no ridiculous combinations of horn, pedals, etc suggestions.

Basic stuff will need to be reset, clock/radio/maintenance/windows. Everything else should be fine, I have done two or three resets and those are the ones I think I always do.

After the reset - let it idle for a bit to re learn the idle fuel trims etc, you probably do this already so sorry if I am telling you to suck eggs, I drive nice and moderate for a few miles to get full advance, I dont really feel she is up to full power for a day or so, but as the ECU learns it gets better and better, for me anyway this proves to be the way so dont be dissappinted if she feels a little off at first.

Hold window button down for 10 seconds then up for 10 seconds. Repeat for other window, that should reset the auto up/down feature.

You can always just to the ECU reset with the pedal if you don't want to have to reset everything else in the car (yes, it clears CELs).
1. Push start button twice to get - Ignition "ON", count to 3. 2. Depress/Release pedal 5 times - hard and fast. 3. Count to 10 (not 7!) and fully depress pedal. 4. Count to 12 (SES should be blinking), release pedal. 5. Count to 10, depress pedal. 6. Count to 10, release pedal. 7. Turn off ignition, then start engine. ECU reset is done! |
