Service Engine Soon.....Ignition coil Part Ii

ItI had this happen recently. http://www.the370z.com/engine-drivet...ml#post3970563

First time I cleaned the mass air sensors and throttle bodies and it corrected the issue.....Today it happened again.

Today it was just 2 codes repeated 3 times.

P0300 : Random Misfire Detected
P0303 : Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected

Not sure if I should just replace it. And by chance could cold weather possibly cause this?

Diagnostic procedures are in the FSM (link in sig). If procedure requires CONSULT (high-$$ diagnostic system), you can usually find something on the Internet that uses normal shop tools.

If you are getting misfires to a specific cylinder, it's either the spark plug or the ignition coil.

FWIW, when an ignition coil goes bad you will know. Your engine will run incredibly rough.

That is the thing......I noticed no difference when driving or felt anything strange....just the "service engine light" came on.

Move the coils around and see if the code follows it.

Random misfires can be a lot of things. The MAF, O2 sensors, the spark plugs, ignition coils, and bad gas.

I'd start by adding a fuel cleaner with your next tank of gas. Sometimes that helps.

Also depending on your miles, maybe it's time for a tune-up. I'd replace all the plugs and see what happens. And it wouldn't hurt to replace the ignition coil in the No. 3 cylinder.

my mileage is 105,000....I replaced the plugs and did a tune up 10,000 miles ago... so I think I am good there.....replaced the cam shaft position sensors recently also due to another service engine light.....Is this something I can do at home?
