Oil cooler temp
Hello everyone,
I recently installed a 25 row setrab core oil cooler on my 370z. I drove my Z around town today and the oil temp went passed the 180 degree mark and stayed around 200 degree. Is this normal for this type of cooler? I thought it would keep the oil temp to around 180 degree. Today’s weather is only 65 degree if that helps. Also when checking the cooler for leaks, I noticed a small stain of oil running down one side of it. I will open it up to double check. |

200* is not excessive at all. You could be at 220 and you would be fine. My oil temps in my Z was ran at 210 during warm weather and 160 in cold weather.

It kind of defeat the purpose of an oil cooler in my mind. Aftermarket oil cooler cools it down to around 180 degree then the factory oil cooler heats it back up to around 200 |

Similar setup to the described. I have both factory and aftermarket oil cooler installed, normal temps with both are around 200-210 deg. in warm weather. Cold weather usually stays at 185 deg. This is the lower limit of the thermostat on the sandwich plate. Before the install, the car ran 235+ in warm weather even hotter when pushed. Nothing out of the ordinary. I do think though that the car is happiest with 185 deg as a low temp for the oil. Others have stated and my experience on track is similar, I see 255 deg. regularly in the Texas heat. During the cool down lap it rapidly drops back to 220 by the time I exit the track.
Good luck with your setup. |
From what I've read previously the factory gauge also reads approximately 20* cooler than the hottest part of the oiling system.

I kept my factory oil cooler when adding a 25 row mainly to bring the oil to temp in the winter time ... it would take 15-20 mins to even get to 160
