Default VQ37 Engine Best VIN | Engine build for TT

Hi Forum,

Going to start an engine build for a 2014 370z Nismo. Actually haven't found the Z yet, but getting an engine and wanted to know what are the better VIN letter codes I should look for.

My numero 1 is the gallery gasket issue, but I have see. Many different variations of the VQ37 based on this VIN 4th digit letter.

Shooting for 750wHP. Will be a forged short block. Valve train seems to be pretty good on these from what I read.

Headgasket issues will be your problem. A built short block with a closed deck may or may not hold. I blew mine daily driving at 718hp. An open deck will not hold. That is what I had. You need to do lots of searching and reading on here. It is a major problem with the VQ37Vhr platform. Lots of misinformation is out and about.

Yeah, i'm 6 hours in your thread. Lowering my expectations a bit now! Trying to build a street / HSDE Z that is a couple steps above my current 350z HR Nismo A-A S.C. setup.

I figured with Forged pistons/rods/multi-layer headgasket/ and upgraded oil pump/twin pump fuels return system was basically the major items... minus the twin turbo kit.

My budget is ~5-6K on the motor build, 10K on the twin kit. I have a full lift at home so install labor is what I would be saving. LSD, clutch, exhaust as other supporting items.

Get a Fast Intentions Twin turbo kit and run the stock block while you save for a proper motor build. You will spend you motor money on supporting mods.

Do you have final dyno numbers on your car yet?

Plan is to pull the stock motor and just put it in storage.

Update:

Found the Z. 2014 Nismo, black... super low miles. Going to take a look at it tomorrow. Only a 3 hour drive for me.

Found a motor locally with low miles. Going today to take a peak. Also from a low mile donor. Trying to get the transmission and differential with it as a package. (will use the differential as a core for LSD upgrade)

Dang, place sold the Z the day before. Sales guy I talked to Sunday said it was still available. Was a crazy deal. 14 Nismo, black, 6k miles for 28.5k.

Good luck, Nismo's don't last long when someone finds one that knows what they are looking at.

Yeah, they go quick.

I did manage to snag a member's red 2014 nismo with 14K miles. They actually sold it to Carvana and i was refreshing carvana 10x a day every day until it came up. Just put a down payment on it this morning. ($29K) Trying to get free shipping at bare min.

Now just need to find a set of 15+ recaro seats :-) I test drove a 18 nismo and the seats were just amazing. I don't think I will be able to sit in the OE 09-14 nismo cloth seats
