VQ37 Engine Best VIN | Engine build for TT
Hi Forum,
Going to start an engine build for a 2014 370z Nismo. Actually haven't found the Z yet, but getting an engine and wanted to know what are the better VIN letter codes I should look for. My numero 1 is the gallery gasket issue, but I have see. Many different variations of the VQ37 based on this VIN 4th digit letter. Shooting for 750wHP. Will be a forged short block. Valve train seems to be pretty good on these from what I read. |
Headgasket issues will be your problem. A built short block with a closed deck may or may not hold. I blew mine daily driving at 718hp. An open deck will not hold. That is what I had. You need to do lots of searching and reading on here. It is a major problem with the VQ37Vhr platform. Lots of misinformation is out and about.

You can read all about my trials and tribulations here. It may take you a week or two to read it all. Lots of information.

I figured with Forged pistons/rods/multi-layer headgasket/ and upgraded oil pump/twin pump fuels return system was basically the major items... minus the twin turbo kit. My budget is ~5-6K on the motor build, 10K on the twin kit. I have a full lift at home so install labor is what I would be saving. LSD, clutch, exhaust as other supporting items. |
Get a Fast Intentions Twin turbo kit and run the stock block while you save for a proper motor build. You will spend you motor money on supporting mods.
