At what point do you stop because of high temperatures?
Recently Houston's been hot. On my way to work It was around 100~F the entire way. To make things worst I was going 3mph~ because of road closures. At first I noticed the AC get really hot, then noticed the Coolant gauge was 5 dots from max. I turned off the AC and audio and it was still creeping to 1 dot from max and 260F oil temp, at that point I drove off and parked for some time before moving.
Was it necessary for me to stop or was it alright to keep going? My Z is boosted with an oil cooler and expanded oil pan (6.5-7L). Once there was steady speed (25+mph the temps dropped fast)https://imgur.com/a/W7Ti5jA https://imgur.com/a/W7Ti5jA |
Maybe want to ck your electric fan’s & ensure both of them are working, also check for any debris between oil coolers & radiator.....be sure you don’t have them mounted to far apart; as this will cause a turbulence effect & air won’t flow directly through :ugh2:

That is definitely not right... With oil cooler your temps should not go that any high. My Z will sit in traffic in FL and the oil temp stays highest at 220F
How many rows of oil cooler you have? jC is correct you might want to check your fans if they are running normal speed. They might not be functioning. To top it off you even have an extended oil pan..maybe your oil cooler lines are clogged? |
Check fuse and fan connectors. I have seen such a case with electrical connectors that looked connected but did not "click together".

I just went to check, my fans are hella painful to touch when the car is on. My oil cooler is a GTM 34 row :/
I can't think of reasons why the temps would get that high. |

Your tuner may be able to help you out. Eg, have fans come on sooner, richen AFR a little when hot, retard timing when hot, etc.

Bonnet vents are a band-aid. Fit a better radiator. Make sure the cooling fan works (duh).

It is kinda funny that folks with a NA car are chiming in. It is very difficult to keep a turbo car cool in stop and go traffic in the extreme summer heat.
|
A better radiator and fans would be a nice solution. Too bad there isn't one. Except maybe Ron Davis? Which is $$$
