You'll probably have a bit of oil burn for the first several thousand miles. I think I stabilized at little to no burn per 1,000 miles after my second oil change.
i think i was 3/4qt low at about 2.5k miles and have been staying at the "H" mark ever since my first change. seems others haven't been as lucky, so definitely keep an eye on it for the first 5-10k. i just check mine every 1-1.5k now, although i'm doing my 2nd change this weekend. should be roughly 7550 miles by then with the first change (to mobil 1) at 3250. adding a cooler though so it's necessary to change.

I am changing my oil next weekend. I'll be around 15k, so I am also replacing the transmission fluid with MT-90.

After reading the info on the Nissan Ester oil on bobistheoilguy's site, I can't see anyone using anything other than this oil - especially if you are changing your oil every 3500-4000 miles. A couple of interesting notes from that article: the ester additive is different than the ester based Redline and Amsoil oil and the Hydrogen free DLC coating is a Nissan patent, is expensive, and not available in any other oil. I recommend reading the entire article.

totally understand what you're saying but there is reason why winning race teams use different oils. Its all passed and present experiences. Sponsorships. Money. And the average person uses his/her preferred oil based either on research like you did, criticisms, or recommendations. I will probably use royal purple on my first oil change since tests have shown it has a lighter wieght than most group v's. But I may use redline since AK and many others on this site are using it

i forgot about bobistheoilguy, that's a great site. i went and read that article and i've got to say back at the OP again. i think the nissan ester oil is probably your best bet unless you track every weekend

Default Interesting post under oil nerds info

further up in engine and drivetrain section. It leaves open a number of questions but compares most of the oils discussed here on a regular basis from oil analysis. Some surprising results. Again, we need more study and more vehicles and how they were driven but good data...

You can access the oil filter and drain plug by removing the four rearmost bolts. You'll see that the rear quarter of the tray is designed to fold down for access.

You obviously have less space to work with, but if you want to do it quickly you can do it this way. Be advised that the tray will not stay folded down on it's own, so you need some cord to run through the bolt holes and tie it down somewhere.

You could probably just remove the whole thing in the time it takes you to tie it down.
FWIW, I changed my oil with no problems whatsoever by just removing the 4 bolts - didn't see any need to tie down the fold-down tray. YMMV...

Default Nissan Ester Oil

I use what they recommend. Don't want to ever pay for an engine. But, that's just me.
