Any gauge that gets pegged on a regular basis will fail sooner then later. Gauges do not like being pegged. You damage the internals and the sensor. A digital would

I'd say if it gets pegged on a regular basis, it would possibly get to like it and have a lesser chance of damaged internals. It does make sense that some are better at the pegging though.
