Is this rasp?
Hello,
I have a 2019 370z Sport MT with Invidia test pipes and invidia full exhaust. I'm trying to determine if what I'm hearing is rasp. If I'm standing still in N and rev the car all I hear is the hiss when the rpms drop which doesn't bother me. What bothers me is this horrible metallic sound coming out the exhaust under load. Slight throttle and there's nothing but pure exhaust noise which is incredible but half throttle to full throttle is this annoying metallic sound. It almost sounds like a rattle/tin can sound being forced out the exhaust. It sounds like if you have the car in a high gear going slow and you floor it. Is this rasp due to the test pipes? I've checked under the car and there's no leaks. I can see why people put the stock cats back on. I just want to make sure this is actually what rasp sounds like. I'm going to sound deaden the trunk so I can't hear it anymore. I'm also going to upload a video. |

Listen to from 2:55 to 3:20 for the best example of the sound i was referring too. |
It is hard to tell with from your video. It sounds normal. You normally get RASP when you go wide open throttle. You may be getting drone which will make your ears rings in displeasure at part throttle.. That is something that you can't hear on a microphone.

If you pay close attention to when i floor it you can hear the raspy/hissing noise. The car has no drone, thankfully.
Listen to it at the 2:55 mark and you will hear the noise i'm referring too. The metallic sound as i'm giving it throttle. |

Regarding sound deadening. I did my trunk and actually made it worse - the trunk becomes an insulated box and the only place for sound to go is towards the back of your head.
I had much more success deadening the rear wheel wells and the floor pan. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |
So you guys do hear it? Your saying it's just a normal VQ noise? The camera isnt picking it up well but theres a metallic sound that you can hear at 2:55 but you have to really put the volume on loud and close to your ear and as soon as I hit the throttle you will hear the metallic jingling in the exhaust
