From what I have read, high compression and the emission controls on these new model high compression engines cause it to use oil not burn it. I didn't know there was a difference but there is. Burning oil means the oil is making it past the rings or that the valve seals are leaking. Using oil is where the oil literally evaporates due to the high compression and emission related components on the engine. And I'm not only talking about the 370 motor. All newer, high compression engines use oil.

When I had mine, I was told to NOT check the oil. Go back to them after about 1500 miles or whichever you think is safe.
Initially they told me to come back after 2000 miles. I then politely said that I would need to come back earlier as my rate of consumption was 2 qt/1000 miles and that at 2000 miles, the engine would have been a goner. They agreed. |
