Starter replacement

I'm quite sure it's time to replace my starter. Remanufactured one's seems to be anywhere from $386 to $ 500, seems a bit steep to me. Amazon has them for around $150 ?? Anyone know if these will fit or any issues with them? Or where there is any place cheaper to get one??

Have you tried RockAuto? They also usually have an additional 5% off coupon code beyond what their prices are.

I haven't bought anything from RockAuto because almost all the reviews are bad ones. Apparently, they often send the wrong part and returns are a PITA. YMMV

We used to rebuild them ourselves - not a difficult job. But that was several decades ago so parts may be difficult to find nowadays.

I think I'm in the market as well. Prices do seem outrageous.

For reference, I recently purchased a radiator and some plastics from Rock Auto. Mostly good experience except for ordering the wrong plastic bits at first and the cheap ($8) hoses weren't a good fit. I ended up paying a lot more for an OEM thermostat and proper fitting hoses ($35+ each). It was actually pretty sweet that when I tried to return the parts, their website gave me a warning that return shipping was more than the original cost of the part.

As I don’t see very many Z enthusiasts replacing their starters beware of lower quality remanufactured starters as they don’t last as long as the Genuine Nissan starters. I ordered Moog wheel bearings,Genuine Nissan rack and pinion and tie rod ends from Rock Auto before and I not only payed more but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired and they took their merry time shipping my order. I would never give them my business again. There are a lot of reputable vendors out there to order parts from if you search.

How's that Amazon starter treating you? Still going strong? I had it fail on my 09, and have to replace it now as well.
