The "Other" oil temps we don't know...
3 Attachment(s)
Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to share some "behind the scenes" work being done at MotorvateDIY Garage. I have often wanted to know how hot does the manual transmission oil get... AND how hot does the differential oil get.. Well...Now I can monitor manual transmission oil temperature AND differential oil temp AND data log them with the current time to a SD card. Rear Differential Oil Temperature Sensor: http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1567296165 Manual Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor: http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1567296165 Motorvate Designed & Built (Arduino Uno based) differential and manual transmission oil temperature display with max temp and data logging to SD card. (oTemp is outside temperature) http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1567296240 Why bother doing this? Well, I wanted to see how much these oil temperatures increase during: • A long highway drive • Driving in traffic • Drag racing • A few pulls on the dyno • A track day (HPDE) ALSO... Will the temperatures change when I put in fresh RedLine 75W90? The differential currently has 3 year old non-synthetic Nissan 80W90 differential oil. Drag racing is scheduled for next week. The HPDE is booked for October. All the results will be shown in a future episode of Motorvate's DIY Garage: https://www.youtube.com/motorvateDIY |
When I did my diff up-grade. An OS Giken diff, Z1 diff cover, SPL diff bushing, MA Motorsprts diff cooler. I installed a SpeedHut Diff temp gauge.
http://www.the370z.com/track-autocro...r-install.html It takes about 10 miles of driving to start to see the diff temp gauge moving up. Driving 9 hours at 80 mph to ZDayZ. The highest temp I seen was 260F. Trackday was 270F. I can turn on the diff cooler and drop my diff temps below 200F after about 10 minutes. Can't wait to see what you get for the tranny temps. I thought about installing a tranny temp gauge. |
Welp. I might as well buy a diff cooler now, bc as soon as this data comes out I'm gonna be all "must be colder.'
