Differential bushing
It would appear my diff bushing has blown, noticed some brownish fluid on my driver side exhaust pipe right under the bushing, however from the rear the bushing seems fine, going to try jacking up the car and see if I'm able to see the other side to confirm it has actually torn. Mainly if it has gone bad, i'm curious on the consensus on the best differential bushing to replace it with. Searching just brought up various different answers and from many years ago. Seems the top 3 are Z1, SPL and Whiteline.

Even if it’s not blown; gonna benefit from replacing it. I used the Z1 poly bushings on my last Z & they worked fine for me,,,lately peanut have been using the solid bushings...as SPL definitely is 1st class. Just be prepared to do a little work or have a reputable shop perform this. DIY threads are somewhere & may even be able to find video’s :ugh2: |
Yeah, it's blown. Mine was starting to goop so I swapped it. SPL solid bushings are the way to go if you see heavy track usage. If you see track usage, if you track here and there and are more of a daily driver, I recommend this over the Z1 bushing.

Energy suspension makes urathane bushings also.

I've installed 2 SPL bushings and 1 Z1 bushing. My 2 cents. The SPL was easier to install. If you install it yourself. Don't be like bunk and try to install the bushing from the rear. They are easier to install from the front.

Are 370Z subframes expensive?
On my 240, i just got a junked one, burned out all the bushings, and did all the SPL replacements at once then swap the subframes and repeat there was some wierd fitment **** because I had an S15 diff inside of an S13 pumpkin on an S14 with an auto-to-manual swapped drivetrain. that was fun |
