Oil pressure more important than temperature?

I used the Spek-Pro Oil pressure gauge. I chose this one becasue goes it to 120psi. At start-up usually I see 110psi after a cold start. The gauge is also much easier to configure on the fly.

Just a point of view.

Is the needle pretty stable? I'm no reading that some of them, even with stepper motors bounce. Is this a stand alone unit?

Yes, the needle is stable. No sudden needle jumps when the pressure rises or falls. The sensor and the gauge are stand alone. The wiring is included.

Wouldn't you want the needle to reflect the actual pressure, even if it's bouncing? I think that's better than artificially smoothing it out.

Depends. My old gauge bounced like crazy and convinced me I'd blown the oil galley gaskets... ended up pulling the engine apart to replace them and they were as fine as the day they were installed lol

So then would there be another reason to cause unstable oil pressures aside from the galley gaskets? I'm assuming that the sensors and needle stepper motors are accurate and that the actual pressure is jumping around by whatever amount (about 5 PSI on mine). When I see it bounce I can always calm it down by paying more attention to my pedal usage, so I'm assuming it's an accurate reading. Given it's accurate I would definitely want to see it, vs having the gauge hide it from me.

Depends on what you mean by unstable. Your blood pressure fluctuates just like - maybe similar to lol - the oil pressure. 5 PSI sounds like a normal fluctuation.

Oil pressure will fluctuate some. There is a lot going on inside a engine. If you are seeing something like 5lbs. Then I would start looking.

Yeah, sounds like you should pull the gallery gaskets and toss a new oil pump in there while you're at it
