Fuel starvation (long turns) by model year?

After reading lots of stories about fuel starvation during long fast turns, I've always been afraid of it happening. But does it happen on all years?

I take some really long turns at grips limit, both left and right, with a couple dots on the tank and have never experienced it.

Pretty much just wondering if perhaps this is one of those things that's been addressed discretely by Nissan. (late '15)

Yeah... they sent out a note: "Don't let your fuel tank get real low and then take Hard Fast Right turns with your Z..."

Solved. Applies to all model years.

Don’t even need to be very low on fuel, I had fuel starve on 1/2 tank just recently.

Why are you letting your car get down to two dots of gas?

CRiZO 12-27-2018 11:45 AM

Just to annoy you I guess

Good one.....(wtf?)

I haven't read/heard anything about gas tank changes.

My guess is that you are not generating as many lateral G's as you think you are.

It happens to all years. Some will experience it, and others never. It's a pick of the draw.

to experience fuel starve you need right hand turns where you can apply very close to /or WOT throughout the entire turn not necessarily really high g-force.

Not so in my case.

Fuel starve will get worse over time as your tophat begins to fail

cossie1600 01-13-2019 02:45 PM

How good is the Z1 fix?

Quicksilvers 01-13-2019 08:11 PM

The Z1 fuel starve kit is not the only fuel starve kit available for our Z’s. True indeed I had fuel starve happen when right at one half tank before. It is an issue that really needs to be addressed. Good luck when your top hat cracks and fails like mine did upgrade before it’s too late. Hope you have AAA.

If everyone contacts the NHTSA and file a complaint, perhaps we can get a free recall.

I haven't broken the top hat, but I broke two gas tank baffles....

I think Charles has a fix for it, I am just debating if I want to work on it
