Others will chime in & help,,,as that bottom piece is a basket for the fuel pump & filter assembly to sit in. It unclips from the housing. There’s a strainer

Others will chime in & help,,,as that bottom piece is a basket for the fuel pump & filter assembly to sit in. It unclips from the housing. There’s a strainer on the bottom of the pump & notice the fuel line does a 180* from the pump....as it pipes back down through a built in paper filter & then up to the top.
