OBD2 app vs aftermarket gauges
Has anybody actually compared 'BOOST' and 'AFR' readings between an OBD2 app like 'Torque Pro, DashCommand' and a real boost gauge or wideband gauge?
Please let me know..thnx! |
I use dashcomand with a wireless OBD reader specificlly for engine temp and A/F readings. I also run a Autometer Pro Comp 2 Wideband Gauge in my dash as well. (I run nitrous and A/F is very important to me:happydance:)
When i compare the 2 together they are bang on. I specifically use the dash compand with a green screen so it keeps the phone screen green when my A/F readings are in the safe zone, it turns red as soon as i lean out. When i first tried the OBD wireless set up i was skeptical but after using it for the last year and comparing the data with my actual guages in dash i woudl have to say i may just run a dashcomand set up on any future builds as its far more cost effective and less intrusive on having to modify the car. |
I don't think I've heard of anyone getting an accurate boost reading for our cars.. On mine I think it stops at 1psi or something, but I also do not have an upgraded MAP sensor so it would be impossible to get the reading in my case. I have asked others that are tuned via speed density and have proper MAP sensors but haven't heard of anyone getting an accurate boost reading from OBDII.

Thanks cranberry, yeah I would love to go an OBD2 app route to read AFR so I can minimise the amount of gauges in the car.
As for boost, I have to get a EBC now anyways, so I will have the boost reading that way. |
