I purchased an M12 X 1.5 insert for my Raceseng shift knob and tried it but it didn't work. I then tried an M12 X 1.25 and an M12 X 1.75 nut and they didn't work either.

I'm at a loss, hopefully Coolerworx can clarify this.

Mystery solved on the thread pitch. I received an email from Coolerworx this morning and he verified the M12 X 1.50 thread pitch. With that info I took an M12 X 1.50 die and cleaned up the first couple of threads and it's fine now. Apparently when the existing knob got tightened down it compressed the first couple of threads. I can see how that can easily happen with the design of the existing knob mounting design.

I haven't driven the car yet (goes in for tune next week) but just sitting in it and going through the gears, the stock knob did feel good. One issue I might have with it and like I've had with other metal knobs is they get extremely hot in our So. Cal. sun. I'll install the one I purchased and post some pics when I get my car back next week.

Covercraft UVS line of sunshades are amazing fit and quality. You can throw a sock on the shifter when parked. Highly recommend some good tint if you are into that to top it off. Problem solved

At the shop today, confirmed with Matt our next order of shifters will have the updated 370Z pads. When they come in I'll post some pictures and update the product page.

Will the new pads be available to those of us that have purchased the shifter with the 350Z pads?

We will ask coolerworkx. If you have already installed it, would just be more for resale if you wanted to sale to a 370Z down the road from my understanding.

So notchy to me has more to do with being difficult to get into gear. I don't have those problems with the shifter that I had with other short shifters. I would say it does have a very mechanical feel, that can sometimes be confused with notchy though. Check out the video below if you haven't seen it.

As Sontbp mentioned, it is a mechanical feel. I had described it as notchy in one of my posts. That may be the wrong way to describe it. It clicks into gear with no effort unlike some of the short shifters on the market that take force to get them to engage. That's why some people use a weighted shift knob on their short shifters. I would call the Coolerworx shifter a race shifter that works great for street use also.

If you want a shifter that has the stock feel then this shifter isn't for you. If you want a shifter that gives a super short throw and positive engagement shifts then the Coolerworx is no doubt the best on the market.

Agreed! I explained in my short review of it as being notchy and mechanical. The shifter provides a lot of feel and feedback. I really like the resistance of mechanical feel with each throw regardless of up or down shifts. If you miss a gear during a shift...well that would be user error in a major way. If you track (drag or circuit) you definitely want one of these bad boys!
