Default Anyone running a SPEC brand clutch?

Title pretty much says it all... I’m researching the big what “if” scenario, the CSC failure. I know some guys running higher stage SPEC clutches in their mustangs and really like them. I wondered if anybody runs one in their 370.

On their website they also have flywheels and a concentric hydraulic release bearing/slave assembly. Does anyone have experience with those as well?

I’m not worried totally about CSC failure, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t on my mind. I flushed my slave system with motul RBF 600 and boy did that help. A couple of track days in and the system is strong as ever.

CSC failure and CMC failure is inevitable really it is a matter of when it will fail than will it fail. There are people here that have replaced the CSC three or more times really depends on how you use your Z? Since you have a manual upgrade to the Z Speed Performance CMAK,RJM Performance CMC and RJM Performance petal as soon as possible. In my opinion I would not trust using a SPEC release bearing/slave assembly on our Z’s. In my experience I have seen the SPEC clutches to be hit or miss on our Z’s really. How do you use your Z? Does your Z ever see any track duty? I had a Spec Stage 3 clutch and aluminum flywheel on my last Z and it was short lived. On my second track event with the SPEC Stage 3 clutch and aluminum flywheel two of the springs came out and were laying in between the pressure plate and the clutch. SPEC aluminum flywheel had tremendous heat damage and pressure plate was damaged. I will never use a SPEC product on my Z again. The Motul RBF 600 brake fluid holds up very well in high temperatures and is a excellent quality brake fluid to use in your Z. Changing your fluid though is more of a bandaid than anything and the effects will not last long. If your CSC is on it’s way out it can fail at any time.

Spec is garbage. Buy literally any other brand of clutch and flywheel.

Talk to Joe at Z Speed Performance he can help you with your clutch and flywheel selection and answer your questions. The Z Speed Performance South Bend Stage 2 daily clutch and flywheel would be a excellent choice. If you drive your Z on the street opted for the quiet disk option.

I just went with the SouthBend Stage 3 setup and CMAK from Zspeed, and I'm loving it. Vastly improves the pedal feel from stock, and the engagement point is worlds better/less ambiguous. Highly recommend it.
