Question on DynoCom numbers
I just took my car in to the local speed shop, because they were running a special for three pulls on their DynoCom. I don't have a set of baseline stock numbers for my car, but all I've added so far is the Garageline X and Mid-pipe combo, and cat delete with Motordyne ART pipes. The third pull was the best, and I put down 312whp, but only 269tq.
Stock, the Nismo is supposed to have 276tq. So, my question is, why would my torque be less than stock, if the horsepower is higher (since I understand stock engines put out about 295-296whp)? The only explanation I can think of is the DynoCom is reading low, but if this is so, I wouldn't expect my horsepower to be much higher than it is now (like, say, on a DynoJet) with the minor upgrade. Plus, I understand that DynoComs are fairly close to DynoJets. Something doesn't add up... |
Well, wouldn't that be 269 WHEEL torque too?
|
Ahhh...yes...I'm confusing myself with all these numbers! Thanks!

:wtf2:

My Nismo stock was 282hp and 230 torque on a Mustang.
After mods it was 334hp and 279 torque on a Dynojet. |
I think you did fine!
Ive seen cars with more mods put out less. |
Thanks for the input, and the comparative numbers. This actually brings me to another suspicion I've had since driving the car a while -- even before I put the exhaust components on. Of course, I've never driven one before, but this engine feels...hot, for lack of a better word. Is it possible for the same 3.7l engines from Nissan to have some variances in hp/tq? I dunno, like, say, +/- 5-10hp/tq?

Yeah. You can build 5 motors all the same. One will be a dog, 3 will be avg. And one will be screamer.

Awesome! Well, I'll never know for sure, because I didn't dyno when it was pure stock, but the engine in my car sure puts a lot of smiles on my face! I'm having an upgraded ZSpeed clutch and HD clutch master put in this coming week...
