Question High rpm miss

So, I was stuck driving my '13 Nismo all winter. It got four solid months of boring commuter duty. 40 miles per day of cruising 45-65mph. I took it out for some fun last week, and I cant get it to rev. It acts like I hit the rev limiter, but this happens somewhere between 4500 and 7000 rpm. I had a set of oem spark plugs, so I put new plugs in it. I cleaned the mafs and throttle bodies. Nothing changed. It runs fine from idle to 4k. I am thinking possible fuel starvation? It is not pulling any codes. It has Stillen gen3 intakes, beluga short tails, and a south bend clutch. The old spark plugs all looked fine, I didn't notice any clues there. Does this sound familliar to anyone? Any thoughts would be appreciated

Only happens under hard acceleration, or even when you just rev it in neutral?

Did the dash light up when it happend? And was it like hiccup? If so, possibly "low" brake fluid. Just meeting the minimum required amount isn't enough.

Mine has done this one time. I shut the car off, no change. What I did was to disconnect both Throttle body connections and re-connected them with the engine off. It solved the problem. It's like I had a dead pedal for some reason.

Have you checked you coil packs? Are you getting any specific cylinder misfire codes?

This same thing happened on my wrx, it would basically hit a "rev limiter" at about 5500 rpm...

Fuel starvation typically happens during higher speed turns. Never heard of it happening on hard acceleration; although if the tank is low enough I could see it happening.

When you say "hard acceleration" are you "mashing" the pedal or gradually increasing it? If there are no codes, I can't imagine what it may be. Try putting a bottle of Sea Foam in it. There may have been some carbon build-up (during the winter daily driving) in the cylinders/valves that may be the problem. I've been using Sea Foam for A LOT of years with great results.

Let us know if you find anything...

It's confusing that no DTCs have been thrown. Make sure you are using the proper OBD Mode to check for DTCs (your reader should do that automatically but it's all I can think of).

How you checked your fuel? You may have gotten some bad gas.

May sound silly, but ave you tried repeating it with traction control turned off? Since I've had my car tuned, anytime I try revving it out the car cuts out due to the traction control going off, sometimes even without the light flashing.... turn it off, and no issues whatsoever. Had it checked and confirmed by Seb (SpecialtyZ).

I've had this too. In my particular case it seems like there's a certain point where too high of a response setting will fudge with the traction control. Turn off VDC and and it becomes a non-issue.

So, I was able to get out and do a little more testing tonight (on a fresh full tank of 93 octane). I also got a much better scan tool. I was able to find a stored code in the abs computer for a low battery. I checked the battery and cleared the code. The problem only happens when the transmission is in S mode. I drove it around with traction on and off in normal mode and had no problems. It happened in S mode regardless of the traction control setting. I guess that Ill be leaving it off while I figure this out. Thanks for all of the help, I'm off to search about S mode.
