Default Os giken tr2a

I ordered a grand touring OS Giken clutch but the vendor (Factory D Racing) went MIA on me, called up OS Giken and they referred me to Evasive Motorsports and with with TR2A option that OS recommended. Anyone else running this clutch. What are your thoughts would like to hear feedback. Thanks

I know several people at the track that have ran the OS Giken twin plate clutch. Considering the cost of this clutch set up if you plan on making a lot of whp/wtq and/or plan on your Z seeing track then the OS Giken will fit the bill. It is a great clutch for the coin spend as it has very smooth engagement and less vibration comparing to other clutch set ups. The OS Giken clutch is streetable though with close to OEM feel. It depends on what kind of clutch feel you like? How do you plan on using your next clutch? I personally like a more aggressive clutch as far as petal pressure and feel go’s. I really liked the Competition Stage 3 and Stage 4 clutches with a billet steel flywheel from AAM Competition. Do your research and drive someone’s Z or drive with someone in their Z to get ideas about what clutch set ups you may like.

Also you can seek professional advice on clutches from Joe at Z Speed Performance. Their customer service is top notch and they really helped me out in the past.

I run HTR2CD, which per OS Giken, a tad less aggressive than TR series. As I remember it goes like this GT < STR < HTR < TR. I have it installed with Zspeed CMAK, RJM HD CMC and RJM pedal. The engagement is somehow smooth, getting small engagement window but with practice could be smooth, however, I feel sometimes it get inconsistent, it grabs very very quicker than usual and I would back off to get out smoothly, I am lazy to go check if everything is aligned perfectly I would try to change pedal engagement point and other stuff but don't have time as well as it is not my daily and shifting with SRM is great.

This will be going into my G37 Sedan. Plans are daily driving and few track days. Not going to lie I’m a very spirited driver. I had a clutch masters 4 puck in my Sentra can’t be any worse I’m guessing. I have purchased the RJM Pedal and upgraded Master cylinder as well. I have only driven the Southbend stage 3 in a friends Z and I wasn’t a fan.

Nice! Are you F.I.? I have the same CMAK and RJM Pedal/CMC. What is SRM? I’m excited, I just can belive the whole system weighs 24lbs... I thought flywheel alone would weigh that lol.

I am NA, but I use the car mainly in track. This is what OS suggested to use, but I think it can hold a lot of powers.

SRM = Sync Rev Match

I use it in track, on streets, I prefer to turn it off, and it is smooth.

Nice, I just looked at your build thread it’s impressive! I also have Motordyne long tube headers on my car. I hope this clutch wakes this car up.

Bueno! Do you have the new version with the light flywheel?

Select your clutch set up also based on if your Z will ever will or will not see forced induction? Do you plan staying naturally aspirated? I have seen the Southbend clutch set ups stand up to track duty and street duty they are durable that why people run them on their Z. On your G37 that is a smart move to upgrade your CMC. Seeing that the OS Giken series clutch set up will support 570+ FT/LBS Torque you could get away with the Grand Touring Series or STR series clutch. Even though the STR series clutch is lighter if you plan on more street duty I would consider the Grand Touring series clutch but they are both excellent choices.

Down the road I will eventually go A2A SC. I looked into the Southbend option and have driven a local Z with that set up and wasn’t too impressed. I already purchased the grand touring clutch but the Vendor went MIA on me, when I reached out to OS Giken they recommended I don’t go with the GT series as it’s not suited for the track. I don’t heavily track my car but I do plan on participating in a few events during a year. Essentially I’m looking to bullet proof the clutch set up and this is what I came up with lol. I hope it all works out.

If you plan on the A2A SC Kit in your future and plan on your Z seeing track duty then yes the OS Giken STR series clutch would be best suited for you. Definitely do your research before doing business with any vendor and make your own decision from there. If you have the opportunity to have track time in your Z go for it you will enjoy it! I had good experiences with the Competition stage 3 and stage 4 clutch from AAM as they held up to track abuse quite well. The best of luck with your new clutch set up though.

Clutch came in, build looks great I’ll make a review after break in and few more miles experiencing it.

Is the flywheel made of steel?
