I appreciate the response. He said it’d be roughly 5-6 quarts and said he’d just charge me $50 plus fluids. But that he is doing a full flush with the machine at Nissan that pumps it all out and replaces with new fluids. As well as using the computer system to monitor levels and trans temp.. So I’m assuming if it’s more than 5-6 quarts. I’ll just pay the difference. All I know is it is $9.20 a qt (my cost) for fluid. I already have 2 quarts at home of S Matic. And if I have to buy say even 6-7 more. It’ll cost me $60-70 in fluid for 9 quarts total (which he said would be worse case of how much it would hold) . And I’d still only be out $120 max. So still cheaper than the $180-220 Nissan service dept quoted me. But he said he’d be doing a full flush. I was just saying 5 quarts cause he said best case it’d be 5-6 quarts but could take as much as 9-10 quarts. So I’ll be paying somewhere between $30-70 on fluid and $50 for his services. So $120 > $180 Last edited by AstatenateZ; 04-19-2018 at 03:27 PM. |

I just did my 7AT on 4/22/18.
Exactly 5 quarts drained out, looked like used motor oil. It has been on the jack stands for two weeks without starting, so a lot of fluid drained out. Car only has 33k miles. Put back 5-1/4 quarts, once up to temp at 104F, about 1/4 of a quart came back out of the standoff pipe. Not a hard DIY, plan to do this again in 10K miles. |

Please give me some advice on my new post below, I am going to DIY this!! DIY'ing 7A trans fluid, need advice! I am going to attempt to DIY this as my dealership said they do not have the exchanger machine (so would be using a hand pump like me) and have not ever done a 7A (sketches me out) and it would also be my first time and lastly do not have the special tool themselves (the charge pipe) to properly fill the new fluid back in. So might as well do it myself. Pls give me some advice on my new post and let me know if my plan sounds good or not. TIA!! |
