Automatic vq37vhr in a manual 370z

Hi everyone I just had a quick question and was wondering if you can put vq37vhr out of an automatic into a manual 370z as I bought it for cheap and plan on building it for when I go FI. Engine is out of a 2009 automatic g37.

Physically the engines are the same and are a direct replacement. The ecu is different from the automatic to the manual transmission 370Z’s. The ecu would need to be swapped out and rewired which is quite a bit of work. Swapping engines will give you a chance to swap out your headers, exhaust etc.

Thanks

Alright that was exactly what i wanted to hear, i plan on buying a manual 370z in a few months and building this engine in the meantime.

Yes, the ECU is in the car. I would recommend you use your electronic from your engine though such as throttle bodies, injectors, cam sensors, crank sensor, etc.

I currently have a 6spd and need a new engine, but when you say the ecu needs to be swapped out and rewired I’m kind of confused. Is it not essentially “plug and play”? My current wiring harness can’t just plug into the new engine and be all set? A shop is doing all of the work, but one of the techs said it probably isn’t a problem with an engine from and auto going into a standard but did mention something about it. I guess while we’re on the lines of this, will a nismo motor be a direct swap to a non nismo car?

Bump this I have the same question.... Auto Engine into a manual car should be plug and play right?
And NISMO into non-Nismo is plug and play right?

My understanding is that NISMO trim just comes with a more aggressive tune.

Answering the question here… Post-op
Put an auto nismo engine into my 6mt sport
Guys at the shop that did it (Rb’s Adrenaline Factory in Kansas City, awesome dudes) said that they only thing they had to change was the flywheel, which worked because I just swapped it from my dudded engine. Everything else was bolt on by the sounds of it.
