Any can that has a baffle in it is usually best. You could also use a can and thrown a scotch brite pot scrubber in it to help absorb the oil. You can find cheap cans on Amazon all day. Then pick up some 3/8 hoses and a few hose clamps and you're good to go.

I actually just bought these ($50/ea):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

which is the generic version of this mishimoto can ($120/ea):
https://www.amazon.com/Mishimoto-MMB...port+catch+can

Unless you are a brand fanboy, I would stay away from Mishimoto as almost all of their catch cans are generic ones that they labeled as their own and marked the price up 3X.

You might go with something less expensive though... I chose this particular model because I am boosted and this can is able to be pressurized. Just make sure you get something with some kind of oil separation... or plan to DIY your own separator as mlsully detailed.

Care to post some pics of the internals of the generic catch can if you haven’t already got it installed?

I can do it tonight... they are literally identical to the mishimoto version though.

These are the ones I bought. It’s only 2 port, so you have to use 2 or add a “T” into your line for each side. Picture of what mine looks like installed with braided hoses.

Those models are cool because they have that little chamber you can use to stuff whatever oil separation material you want in... I was actually going to go with those and modify them to accept a 50 micron pneumatic filter for oil separation but I ended up returning them because I didn't think they would play well with boost (that dipstick didn't look sealed) and I didn't want to also have to relocate the PCV check valve. Nice cans though, and CHEAP at $35/ea.

The ones I ended up with already use a pneumatic filter for oil separation..but are more expensive and the fittings need to be replaced because the included ones are too big for our cars... for me it was a no brainer though because of boost.

Expensive is subjective. Its not about the money its what drives the passion and to answer your question nothing. It all serves the same propose. There just pretty and of high quality...People were talking about catch cans so I just put them out there for reference.

Sorry don't mean to be disrespectful, I'm on the market for a couple catch cans myself right now, and just wanted to know the difference between those ones and the other two linked before.

I noticed that the ones mlsully posted are empty inside. There is even a version with a filter thingy on the top which I have no idea what's for.

The filter thingy is a breather vent for the catch cans.

You definitely do not want one that is just an empty can unless you plan to modify it to add something to separate the vapors from the air (since that is the purpose of running a catch can). Almost all the super cheap cans will just be empty cans. The ones mlsully posted are empty, but they come with a little chamber you can fill with something to cause the vapors to condense and gather on.. most commonly people use stainless steel dish scubbing pads (pro tip: you can get them at the dollar store). So this type of can, while empty, can easily be adapted into being functional.

As far as the ones with the breather vents - if you are going to delete the PCV system you would run one of these with the breather vented to atmosphere though the filter... If you are going to add the can into the OEM closed loop PCV, you want one without the breather vent. Some can be configured either way.
