Need help troubleshooting
Hey everyone, recently my car has started to hesitate or buck upon acceleration and while driving normally. I experience these hesitations normally around 2500-3000 rpm. I've seen on the forum some people posting about a possible limp mode, but I still have all my power, just those hesitations.
An example is, if I drive at 45 mpg in 6th gear, low rpm I have no issues, If i drive 45 mph in 4th gear around 2.7k -3k rpm the will randomly feel like it's downshifting but rpm won't drop at all. It does it at all speeds, all gears so long as rpm is within the 2.5-3k range. I've cleaned my filters on CAI and checked inside the intakes, cleaned MAF, cleaned throttle bodies, replaced spark plugs, reset my ECU and taken it to get tuned and everything showed up to be 100% fine. Had tuner drive with me and he felt the hesitation also but couldn't figure out what was causing it. Anyone else have this issue, or resolve this issue? |

You might try a very short drive with the actual air filters removed. Sometimes these reusable filters fail. The other issue might be ignition failing . A good engine scan should show what systems are not up to snuff. A large vacuum leak could also be a culprit. I would go to a trusted technician rather than a tuner. Plus the tuner can't figure it out.

I would second possible ignition issues. Failing coil pack maybe. It wouldn't show up in the ecu until it gets really bad

How many miles does your car have?
If it’s a lot, try changing PCVs. I was having weird issues too. Once I changed them, things smoothed out a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks all, I'll try it all out this weekend. Also my car only has about 18k miles on it.
I might just look into purchasing new ignition coils and doing the PCV delete, I was planning on doing it anyway. Last edited by Cheeky; 01-14-2018 at 03:39 PM. |

Update: CEL on now, throwing lots of codes
As read on OBD Scanner C1109 : Battery Voltage Abnormal [Confirmed] C1130 : Engine Signal 1 [Confirmed] U1000 : CAN Communication System [Confirmed] P006A : Manifold Absolute Pressure Mass or Volume Air Flow Correlation [Permanent] P0101 : Mass or Volume Air Flow A (Circuit Range/Performance) [Permanent] Looks like most everything is pointing towards MAF or MAP however I've also put on the Z1 Upper so it could be that I perhaps have a bad gasket causing a vacuum leak? Or hell, maybe even a ground wire messing up. Any ideas? |

Going by what I've read by doing a web search for the PIDs you posted, it sounds like ABS and ECM aren't talking to each other. Check the wiring and connectors between the ABS unit and the ECM. The FSM (link in my sig) will have wiring diagrams, pinouts, etc.

Go to any of the big web search engines and use the PIDs (eg, C1109) as your search strings.

So, new ignition coils didn't solve the problem. Took it somewhere else to have someone take a look at it. Looks like engine is running lean, possible issue with MAF sensors or the module connecting to it. Going to have it re-tuned and switch out the sensors with different ones to see if that helps.

With only 18k on the car and information presented so far, I’m going to guess bad tuning or incorrect ROM. Highly unlikely to be a deep issue beyond that, and if it is, let Nissan handle it under warranty.

I actually just got it fixed the other night. The issue was with my AEM intakes, the MAF harness was messing up. We rewired and soldered them back together, works fine. Better performance and sound than before it even started messing up.
