Post Which transmission handles boost better? A/T or M/T?

Want to get a Z, I was planning on doing at most 550HP to the wheels. I heard the M/T handles boost much better than the A/T, but at the same time I've never driven a M/T and I'm kinda worried since I heard the clutch has a weird biting point. Also the CSC failure. I've had a few motorcycles though, and I know how the whole clutch/gearing thing works.

Any thoughts as to what I should go with?

MT, or plan another $4-6k for beefing up the 7AT. All the MT needs to handle the power is a new clutch and CSC. The AT needs to be rebuilt to handle the power.

That's pretty much everything you need to know right there.

I'll listen, I'm just scared of the manual because of what I've heard. Do you think it'd be hard for me to get a hang of? I've never driven a manual before so I'm kind of scared since its new to me.

If you're ready to boost then driving a MT Z shouldn't bother you.... After driving it for a week you'll wonder why you were so worried in the first place. Also, RJM sells an adjustable clutch pedal assembly that makes the car much easier to drive... You may want it when you get a clutch capable of boost.

Spend the Xtra $ and go A/T,,, I’m only a tad over 300whp & can drift through 3rd w/345’s on the back.
You’ll need both hands on the wheel -not being used to a stick.

I guess. I got used to the idea of clutching and shifting on a motorcycle pretty fast. I know a car is different but in theory its the same thing going on.

If you can ride then you will have no problems learning stick. Only thing you might want to do is learn to drive stick and practice a little before making your investment just to make sure you actually like driving stick. For me personally, I learned to drive stick when I was 17 and never owned an automatic car again. To this day, driving an AT frustrates me as it never seems to behave the way I want it to.

If you've never driven a MT, then it doesn't matter what you learn on. A few minutes to get the basics; a few days to smooth it out; a few weeks to get good at it.

I suppose there are a few people that don't have the ability to drive a stick but most people pick it up quickly. Get a friend with a manual to let you try it - if you can't make a smooth start after 10 minutes, you may be one of the few.

I intentionally don't have that 3rd pedal,
at 6'6",,, gives me plenty of legroom & when you learn the 7A/T...it's a manumatic & shifts like a dream!
Just keep fluid clean; i'm over 90k & rolling well.

The 370z was my first MT car since getting my driving license (learned to drive on MT), anyway, now I have the idea of getting a Manual DD, got possessed by manual transmissions

It is your call, if you wanted to drive a manual, you will learn it quickly, if you aren't, you will get bored of it.

Of course, it will need less hassle and money to make it more capable of holding out boost.
