Default Amsoil- review :)

I don't usually write reviews but I wanted to share with my fellow Z guys especially seeing a lot of people with oil consumption issues.

My oil was changed at 1000 miles with the Nissan Ester oil and at 3000 miles I changed again to Amsoil signature series. When the oilwas drained ihad a little over 4 quarts.

Oil changed at 6500 miles (3500 miles driven hard) and exactly 5 quarts back into the bottles. So there was zero oil lost. Stock oil cooler and 90+ degrees here in the South.

My 350z was the same with no loss of oil. Also their gear oil made the transmission 100x smoother.

Hope this helps some of you if you notice the Z losing oil.

I'm not paid by amsoil, just a long time customer

I'm a 8 year long use myself. Once I get settled in California I will swap gear and diff oil. I will also have to use their octane booster since Cali is lame with 91 Octane vs 93 here in South Carolina...

When I first got my car I believe that there was Nissans ester oil in it. The car didn't burn anything in the 3750 interval. I then switched to mobil 1, and saw to my surprise that the car burnt about a quart in an 2000 mile interval.

I switched to a Valvoline product immediately, the car now only burns a quart every 2700 to 3000 miles of moderately hard driving.

I'm wondering if the amsoil would make an even bigger impact in reducing consumption...

You should give it a try, I drove it hard with my 3000-6600 miles and didn't lose a drop. I poured it back in the amsoil quarts and it hit the top line on every quart!!! So it didn't even lose a teaspoon!! My original ester oil in only 2000 miles lost like 3/4 of a quart and not driving hard and under 80 degree weather....

Got a good place to go or just wherever has the best deals for the oil/filter? Thinking I might make the switch next oil change.

I can probably hook you up for your initial try. I'm not a dealer, but get a hefty discount.

It is Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 for the diff.
The manual tranny fluid I don't remember the name. You can look it up
on the Amsoil site. It is a GL4 fluid. Don't put GL5 in the manual trans.
