Overheating problems/issues?
I needed to know do these 2017 370z's have any overheating problems/issues in stock form and in weather like 100+ degree weather with high humidity? My shop was telling me that the 370z's have overheating issues/problems in hot weather conditions and will run very hot too. What mods can I do that will help lower the temperature on the temperature gauge? If your 370z is still under warranty what would a Nissan dealership do to stop overheating or running hot?

Do a little searching before asking questions. The 370Z and this site have been around since ~2009 and just about any question you can imagine has already been answered.

I've personally never seen or read about overheating issues when someone WASN'T tracking their car. If you plan to track, then yes, you will need to do something about the oil temp as the car does run hot. Search into oil coolers if you plan on tracking. My car has no cooling mods and I've never had temp issues just normally driving.

Day to day issues you will have no problem with a 2017. If you track the car or do similar type driving an oil cooler upgrade will be in your future. No issues otherwise.

Oil cooler
Just get a oil cooler. 25 row or up I really don't see much of a point in the 19 row. On a 100 degree plus day if you are driving the car hard you will run into high oil tempatures.

Well so far I found one person with a 2008 350Z Track edition that claimed to have overheating issues at the track and running hot during street driving. Thank you I will look into all the different brands of oil coolers.

A 2008 350 has a completely different motor and cannot be used for comparison.

If your tracking the car (370z) your gunna run into heat issues. If your DD and driving the car hard depending on where you live (tempature) you could still run into overheating oil.

He's in Atlanta. He needs an oil cooler even if the car never sees the track.

Yes, temperature wise here in Atlanta,GA the hot humidity has already started. A oil cooler will be in the works soon as it will only be getting hotter. I will be researching for the correct oil cooler for what I am using my 370z for thanks.

If you're looking at a 2017, it already has an oil cooler. The 2012 model year added an oil cooler as a standard feature. Here's the thread from 2011:
2012 370Z All Models Include Oil Cooler I'm a fan and long time user of Red Line's Water Wetter. I used it in my Mercedes diesel and have added it to my 2016 370z. In crappy stop and go in Atlanta, I've seen 220. At pace on the highway, the thermostat seems to want to keep 205 (that's what I was measuring VVT oil temperature at with Torque). Then again, I haven't made it through a full Atlanta summer yet. Good luck |

But it's ultimately up for everyone else to decide. I had a no oil cooler on my 09 for for 2 years and never saw anything above 240-250, but that was because I would let off before the temp was any higher. Anything less than 90 degrees outside and I'd be alright I guess but still hot lol. I just wanted one because I plan to boost in the future and so I can drive it hard and not have to worry about looking up and seeing 280 degrees haha

2017 Nismo with factory oil/water cooler. With Outside air temp at 25C (77F), stop and go and some hard driving, I saw 110C (230F) on the oil temp gauge.
I would like to keep that around 190 if possible. But in my part of the world, spring and early summer are cool. This day was anomaly. I will see after a good summer driving and see if, with good airflow, an oil cooler in necessary. 19 row may be enough for me. |
