Driving 2 wheels on the curb near a driveway will give you 4-5 inches extra clearance to shimmy under your car and take a peak. Make sure it's in gear/park and hand brake is on. Used this trick on my old 914 when I had to jerry-rig a broken clutch cable 200 miles away from home.
