A piece of advice from a machanic who's also a friend: never let your fuel level go below the quarter-tank mark, guys. According to my buddy, the injectors could get clogged up with microscopic debris floating in the bottom of the gas tank. I ain't no mechanic, but it does make sense, what my friend says, I mean. Cheers.

On cars with in-tank fuel pumps, the fuel acts a a coolant for the electric motor. When tanks are nearly empty the fuel pump can get hot enough to shorten its life. I try to avoid letting my tank get too close to empty.

So, another reason. Just plain old common sense tells a tale. One more: Say, your tank is nearly empty, and an emergency pops outta nowhere, the kinda doesn't give you time to stop at a gas station; that's when you wish you had it full, dude. I fill up on a weekly basis--about ½ a tank left, usually.
