A piece of advice from a machanic who's also a friend: never let your fuel level go below the quarter-tank mark, guys. According to my buddy, the injectors could get clogged up with microscopic debris floating in the bottom of the gas tank. I ain't no mechanic, but it does make sense, what my friend says, I mean. Cheers.

You hear this all the time but it makes no sense. The fuel pickup is already in the bottom of the tank, it really doesn't matter whether the tank is full or empty, if there are suspended particles your going to suck them up anyway!

On cars with in-tank fuel pumps, the fuel acts a a coolant for the electric motor. When tanks are nearly empty the fuel pump can get hot enough to shorten its life. I try to avoid letting my tank get too close to empty.

So, another reason. Just plain old common sense tells a tale. One more: Say, your tank is nearly empty, and an emergency pops outta nowhere, the kinda doesn't give you time to stop at a gas station; that's when you wish you had it full, dude. I fill up on a weekly basis--about ½ a tank left, usually.
