oil cooler
Still trying to get my oil temps in line. I have a 25 row dual oil cooler that the lines attach to the sides not on top. While doing an oil change I removed the bottom hose off the cooler and very little oil came out. I now think/know the oil is draining back into the engine. This means when I check the oil cold the cooler is empty.
Any ideas or am I wrong? |
I mounted a top fitting 19 row Setrab cooler on my 2010 370Z about a month ago, and I have it taped up around town, because the oil temps are too low. Is your oil feed line to the cooler, the top fitting or the bottom? It should be the bottom fitting, on a side plumbed cooler. If it's the top, most of the oil bypass's the cooler fins.
A few oil temp norm's: oil should run between 190 & 230 F Max oil temp should be 250 / 260 F If oil is not hot enough, water & gas in the oil, do not get boiled off Synthetic oil can run hotter, but there is no real gain Hope this helps Brian |
