7at -> 6mt
So I'm looking to have a ship install a manual tranny and take out my automatic transmission (it's close to failure). Was wondering exactly how expensive labor would be to get that done? This includes all necessary items needed as well
|
That's going to be a loo-loo.
In the (good) old days, you pretty much just cut a hole in the hump for the shifter. Nowadays, everything is electronically connected. I don't even know if the computer has the software for both transmissions. Keep us up to date on what you learn. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk |
It'll probably cost far more than replacing the failing automatic or trading the car on a 6mt Z.
|
As mentioned above, it's not an easy or cost-effective swap. I'd either buy a rebuilt AT or sell the car and get one with an MT.

Have Level 10 build your 7AT
|
it's not as expensive / pricey as people think it is. PM sent.

Selling the car would be the best option if you want less downtime.

What are you doing to this car? You're on motor #2, right? And now the 7at is dying? These cars are really solid, especially NA. Did you get a lemon, or are you beating this thing to death?

Jokes aside, I bought the car in REALLY bad condition. As soon as I purchased it, went straight to the dealership to get 2k in repairs. Was told it was stolen and not salvaged and been in an accident. My fault for not looking at the carfax, but it was advertised wrong and that's illegal but it was eh. But for the most part, I am beating it lol.. |
Why?

Ok, that makes a LOT more sense.
