Default OBD Codes

Hey guys...I have a quick question.

My car has been sitting for a few months since its winter, and I just moved. Today I tried to go out for a drive and the idle was really rough it sounded like my exhaust was hiccuping and the car was rocking during idle, and dropping RPMs in all gears including neutral and park. The car will not accelerate properly, and I was afraid to push it very hard because its barely moving without a huge struggle.

I plugged my ODB in and I got the codes po300 and po305.

The car only has 4000 miles but is a 2012 and has had regular maintenance

The gas has been in the car for a few months but not so long I would think it would cause issues.

Could the spark plugs go bad from just getting older???

I had the car serviced when this first happened by the garage that did all my work and they said they didn't see anything wrong with it. They played with the tune and said I Was good to go, the problem started again immediately. Car is full bolt ons but and a tune but thats about it.

Any input is appreciated as I just moved and dont have a garage I know or trust around here.

Thanks in advance!

not sure but did you check the MAF? might be dirty or u have a mouse living in ur engine bay.. check the coil packs for any chew marks. also check a/c blower area (cabin filter).

MAF clean, and no rodents in the engine. I smell gas as its running. Service engine light is blinking while I try and drive. I think its a cylinder misfire or its running crazy lean or something. Is it safe to drive a half hour to the nearest decent mechanic?

I'd check the coil and plug on cylinder #5.

If you smell gas then you have a fuel leak or it's running rich. If it were running rich then you would probably see a code.

I dont have any tools or anything to start working on this myself, I just moved in and half my craps in storage. Is it safe to drive to a shop if its like a half hour away if I take it easy?

Depends on how bad the misfire is. If bad enough, it could wash oil from the cylinders and piston rings.

I'd at least do a visual check of the cylinder #5 coil/plug. Might be something easily bandaged well enough to get you to the mechanic.

You may want to reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to see if it clears the issue.
