GT-R turbos on the VQ37

I understand your dilemma on the steering rack but FI is going to give up their proprietary engineering to anyone. You can't stay on top if you give share everything.

I totally understand and I appreciated that they even let me know that they use the angled shims on their kits.

Hopefully it won't take me long to figure out the angle. I already got all the dimensions and length needed for the spacer, with just the angle left to figure out.

I am good with whichever direction they choose - as the IP belongs to them so they can do what they want.. I just prefer the CJM approach. Seems like any return fuel system you buy from almost any Z vendor includes some CJM parts.

Maybe if FI took the same approach, then a bunch of turbo kits would use their spacers (or ICs, or manifolds, or whatever)? I don't know if the idea would be applicable in this instance and is certainly not usable universally. Just saying - there is more than one successful approach out there and the alternative in this case brings the most good will and does not need carry as much risk of copycats since most copycats would rather just buy it from you than reverse engineer it. (Just speculating here, I am no business expert)

edit: This reminds me of an episode of those old Biker-Build-Off shows.. I remember one of the builders also sold all the parts he designed and coincidentally the guy he was competing with actually ordered a headlight from him for the show-build. He was like "Even if I lose... I still win."

Sometimes selling components can cause trouble.

Just as a made-up example, but one possible scenario: Perhaps their source on the spacers is slow or unreliable. They might only have a small amount of them available at the moment. If they had to push back a turbo kit sale because they sold off a set of $25 spacers... no good!

Certainly... just wanted to point out that there are alternatives and since you are probably 1A/1B on everyone's list here along with FI, you made for a good example. =)

Im still waiting on that free S1.SE fuel system you sarcastically promised me somewhere. ITS DOCUMENTED! =)

Sorry husam, I'll stop shooting your thread off topic now.

Yeah I totally understand their point of view. I certainly wouldn't give away the design of any of the adapters i worked so hard on to finish.

Anyways, some good and bad news.

The good news is I have been experimenting with angles and it looks like I figured out the exact angle needed to clear the bolt for the downpipe.

I also scheduled an uprev tune at a performance shop a couple hours away from me. I will probably rent a U-Haul to tow it there or something.

Bad news but not so bad is after removing the fuel pump, I figured out that I had to buy the CJM install kit for the aeromotive pump.

I thought that it wasn't necessary but it is. I will be ordering it tonight so hopefully I'll have it finished asap because it stinks now!

Default GT-R turbos on the VQ37

Just doing a few things while I'm waiting for my fuel pump install kit.

Anybody know what these do? They fell as I adjusted the steering rack.

Finishes installing the fuel pump and it still idles fine.

One thing I just caught is that the low oil pressure light has been on since the first day I started it!

I'm hoping it's the sensor gone bad and not a different problem because It was a perfectly running engine before.

I'm ordering a pressure gauge and installing it instead of the oem sensor.
I'm hoping everything is well before my dyno appt 2 weeks from now.

This might be the last and final post I make on here.

Bad bad news. The oil light that went unnoticed by everyone including myself turned out to be very real and not due to a damaged sensor.

After the initial panic, I opened the turbo feed lines and I found oil in there.

Turbo drain lines? Nothing there but tiny drops.

Turbo inlets? Dust on the driver side

I guess I'm in denial at the moment but the worst case scenario is probably what happened.

No oil pressure due to something magical, followed by the turbos oil starving and the engine grinding itself slowly (it still sounds perfect somehow)

I will drop the pan tomorrow to see if that is the case. I will post back on here if I got lucky by an act of god.

Thanks everyone for your support along this dream project of mine! I couldn't have gotten this far without you guys.I guess I should of listened to the older members on here so I wouldn't be in such a horrible situation.
