My guess is they didn't want to undercut the GTR.

Both sides in. Fits perfectly including clearance to chassis, steering coupler and shaft, and even the stock fuel heat shield! Working on it at the moment so just this for now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

GT-R turbos on the VQ37
I must of jinxed myself. The steering shaft has zero clearance what so ever if i tilt the engine back a little (still not sure how to make it at the right angle without attaching the trans and bolting everything)
Anybody has any ideas? It's hitting the heat-shield bolts at the bottom and even grinding them a little bit doesn't help. Unless i'm tilting the engine way too far back, then it might clear if i put it at the right angle. Does anyone have pictures of their engine mounted without the intake manifold in place? That would help me visualize it a bit. These are pictures from the german shop who has built a few 370Z's using gtr turbos. It almost looks like their steering rack is in a different location? Any ideas/ help would be really appreciated as I'm really out of ideas at the moment :/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yikes I was worried for you about that steering shaft coupler.
Gamma kit does space the engine up a little bit, no more than you could with the Z1 mounts though. I think the older GTM kits added some kind of extension or something for the steering shaft (Chuck?)... I think the FI kit may adjust the position of the steering rack but not sure about this either (Hotrodz?).

It looks like the first versions of the GTM kits had a similar issue. I found something about it but no details at all on how i would add the extension or move it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Think some of the OG's with GTM kits should be able to chime in and help you out... You may also consider posting a thread in the FI subforum asking for pictures of the steering shaft modification for the GTM v1 kit ...
While you're at it, you might have a mod move this thread there =) Could garner a little more attention and support from the rest of the FI guys who might not wade around in the general engine section... Good luck man, you'll figure something out. Too skilled!

I worked on it for about 5 hours today. The darn thing wouldn't slide in. I did use the allignment tool again to check and it fits perfectly so I guess I just need to try it again tonight. Any tricks you use to slide it back in? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
