I feel like there is some confusion of which hoses we are talking about?

I assume that's the fresh air inlet (that normally connects to the OEM intake pipe), correct?

If so, you would either put a breather there or connect to the turbo inlet pipe (where it effectively uses the intake filter instead of its own tiny breather filter).

The hose off the PCV valve that goes to the intake manifold should remain the same, or you could put a catch can inline with it.

Yeah I was confused at first by connecting that 3/8 hose to the inlet but I figured that goes to the intake manifold.

The breather hose is 5/8 so I bought a 5/8 to 3/8 reducer and ran the breather hose to the GTR location (the metal hard pipe coming out of the turbo inlet)

Sounds like a good solution! Might as well make use of what Nissan gives you with the turbo inlet =)

I'm really enjoying your progress.

Thank you! I can't wait to finish and go ally have a car as fast as yours haha

Right now, I dropped off the turbos to the machine shop to get the manifold ports matched to the adapters. There's a slight lip due to the adapter angle. I figured might as well do it since it's cheap while it's out and might get me an extra 10-20 whp.

Are you in too deep to switch gears? If there is eventually an intercooler kit to go along with these adapters, what comes out of this thread could be a real game changer in terms of TT cost of admission. Probably even cheaper than the GTM group buy pipedream. Though something like that is probably a ways out.. and I don't know what husam's plans for this design are.

Not really. Going to be placing my order on a billet crank here in the next few months. So I have till then to decide. I not so much into power but want something reliable for constant abuse at the track.

Makes sense... Though I would worry that the extra revs from a max NA build would put more stress on the motor that some light boosting.. but it sounds like you are planning for that with your upgrades. Track-level abuse is not in my wheelhouse as I have never actually driven on one. Hope to take some driving lessons one day though.

Surprised I haven't seen you around town!

I still vote BOOST =)

I'm hoping to get a group buy going as soon as I finish up my install. I have a few people who contacted me already who bought the GTR turbos and are waiting for my adapters.

It even looks like the GTR intercooler fits with some modification, so that makes it even cheaper!

If one was to get a good deal on the turbos/intercoolers from the GTR (I've seen someone selling that plus all piping for around 1k on the GTR forum) then the cost to boost the Z is under 4k! Now that obviously doesn't include clutch etc and doesn't include the cost to fabricate some of the pipes if you had someone do it for you.

Finally received that OEM oil cooler block off plate! It was on backorder from Japan so I think it took almost 2 months from when I ordered it

Interested to see how much power these could make on our motor. Hopefully they make at least 450whp

There are guys making a lot of power with the stock turbos...

589 whp and 565 wtq on 92 octane, and 625 whp and 611 wtq on E85
New stock turbo HP record! - Engine - GT-R Life

Granted, that guy was "setting a stock turbo record" ... but they certainly seem to flow enough to make good power.

Also keep in mind the compression ratio difference between our engine and the GTR. Our engine should be a little more efficient therefore getting more power out of less boost.

I'd say they're good for about 550 whp max on stock compression as they're kinda small turbos.
