I agree! Thank you phunk for this idea as it saved me a lot time

Still waiting for the tuner. He tunes GTRs and his license didn't work for my Z so he has to buy the 370z license. Hoping that happens ASAP so I can drive the darn car!

Default GT-R turbos on the VQ37

I just wanted to post this separately. I've been struggling with the steering rack spacers as doing it like GTM makes it so one of the downpipe bolts wouldn't fit due to the tiny clearance left.

I've discovered that Fast Intention's kit also uses rack spacers, but they are at an angle so there's more clearance for the turbos. Obviously they aren't willing to just give me these spacers so i have to figure it out for myself.

The problem is, the rack doesn't like being angled at all. (It either going on straight or angled the wrong way)

I could technically finish using the regular flat spacers but then i would have one missing bolt on the driver downpipe and i don't like doing things halfassed.

Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks guys.

Been busy with life but i'm almost done with the fuel pump. Should be finished tonight along with the inlets.

Only thing left is to find a permanent solution to the steering rack (Fast intentions gave me the basic idea which actually solves my problem) but they weren't willing to give any details or sell it for me.. So i will have to make it myself. I could actually tune the car as is since the downpipe doesn't leak when it's missing 1 bolt but i don't want to leave it like that.

Another exhaust video for you guys! The tone actually changed somehow and now i love how it sounds.

Getting close man!!! Bummer that FI wouldn't sell you their spacers...
I agree it's a good idea to to make sure you get three bolts on the downpipe... don't want it to start leaking when the motor is rocking and rolling.

Is the spacer something you can have machined?

I understand your dilemma on the steering rack but FI is going to give up their proprietary engineering to anyone. You can't stay on top if you give share everything. It's that they don't want to help you it's about their bottom line!

I totally understand and I appreciated that they even let me know that they use the angled shims on their kits.

Hopefully it won't take me long to figure out the angle. I already got all the dimensions and length needed for the spacer, with just the angle left to figure out.

I am good with whichever direction they choose - as the IP belongs to them so they can do what they want.. I just prefer the CJM approach. Seems like any return fuel system you buy from almost any Z vendor includes some CJM parts.

Maybe if FI took the same approach, then a bunch of turbo kits would use their spacers (or ICs, or manifolds, or whatever)? I don't know if the idea would be applicable in this instance and is certainly not usable universally. Just saying - there is more than one successful approach out there and the alternative in this case brings the most good will and does not need carry as much risk of copycats since most copycats would rather just buy it from you than reverse engineer it. (Just speculating here, I am no business expert)

edit: This reminds me of an episode of those old Biker-Build-Off shows.. I remember one of the builders also sold all the parts he designed and coincidentally the guy he was competing with actually ordered a headlight from him for the show-build. He was like "Even if I lose... I still win."

Sometimes selling components can cause trouble.

Just as a made-up example, but one possible scenario: Perhaps their source on the spacers is slow or unreliable. They might only have a small amount of them available at the moment. If they had to push back a turbo kit sale because they sold off a set of $25 spacers... no good!

Certainly... just wanted to point out that there are alternatives and since you are probably 1A/1B on everyone's list here along with FI, you made for a good example. =)

Im still waiting on that free S1.SE fuel system you sarcastically promised me somewhere. ITS DOCUMENTED! =)

Sorry husam, I'll stop shooting your thread off topic now.
