CSC Failed - Need Help Fast Please
I had my 2009 Z serviced last week. It has 65K miles on it, I am the original owner. I complained that the clutch felt soft. They charged me $252 to drain and flush the clutch fluid and replace with DOT4 GTR fluid. The clutch pedal still felt like crap all weekend. This morning it went to the floor and exhibited all signs of CSC failure that have been described on this board.
The car is at the dealer now. Here is what they said: Replace CSC. Entails dropping the transmission to get to it. Repair cost is $1595 Replace Master Clutch Cylinder. Repair cost is $356. Total for both is $1951 I thought the CSC is the cylinder located at the upper left rear by the reservoir for the clutch fluid ? Are they F.O.S. and trying to hose me for $1951 ? Please help. Thanks guys |

Doesn't Z1 make a kit that eliminates the need for the slave entirely? I'd go with that if you have to do all the work anyway... no need to ever worry about it again.

Thanks, looks like I'll be spending my tax refund in advance. I will ask the dealer to refund the $252 I paid last week for the drain & flush of the clutch fluid.

Oh yeah. Should have specified internal, crappy prone-to-failure slave.

Price sounds about right. I would definitely replace it with the Z1 so you don't have to do this all over again when it fails again (AND IT WILL).

Yep, I'm hosed. I do a lot of routine maintenance like oil changes, transmission and differential oil changes, etc but brake jobs, dropping the transmission and that type of work are beyond my capabilities. The car has been trouble free for 7 years and 65K miles other than this major expense.
By the way, thanks everyone for the quick responses and Happy New Year Last edited by Dwight Frye; 01-03-2017 at 04:07 PM. |

Definitely do the master when you do the slave. I did the HD csc from z1.
Parts were about 700 cad (fk the conversion) labour was about 800 and went through 4 bottles of clutch fluids due to a string of faulty bleeder screw. Fml. Thanks for reminding me I used some shoddy dot 4 on the last one since I didn't want to to waste anymore Rbf 60p or endless... lol sigh. |
