Oil temp guage

Just wondering how accurate the OEM oil temp gauge is?

Since installing a 25 row oil cooler last year my oil temp in cooler weather stays lower than 180 even though i have a thermostatic plate. During the summer it stayed between 180 and 200 during spirited driving.

It's accurate, but the way most oil coolers are plumbed it it's about 20 degrees low.

Its accurate, where the OEM oil temp sensor is located your actually seeing the return line (coolest oil temp) as it comes from the cooler back to the block.

Thanks for the info. Think i might switch to a 19 row oil cooler since all my driving is on the street not the track.

Save yourself some money and make a block off plate to cover part of your current cooler.
