Sticky: 370Z Transmission Failures (6MT) 5th gear "crunching" with shift Synchros in these transmissions seem to be very fragile; not necessarily due to wear and tear. It's kind of a crap shoot whether a brand new transmission will end up any better than the one you have. My first transmission was grinding in 3rd gear, and I had it replaced under warranty. Now the second (new) transmission exhibits similar symptoms as yours, in 5th gear. I am so far unable to find a place that is willing or able to rebuilt and upgrade the synchros...see Built Manual Transmission --ZOM |
