ARC Combo tank - braided hose & clamps
Hey everyone. I currently have my ARC tank up for sale but have noticed a few people (both Zs ang Gs) that have a braided setup that I'd like to do should I keep them. Problem is, every time I see someone post about them and ask any information about the sizes/where they got them, it goes unseen or ignored.
So, I was hoping someone here has/had the setup and would be able to point me in the right direction. I'm looking for something like one of the below pictures: http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...psow1nmpv3.jpg http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...pslk7avs4t.jpg http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...psjnviiere.jpg |

I appreciate it, but I already have the tank itself, it was the braided hoses and clamps I wanted. Thanks anyway!

Wow, I didn't even know those hoses existed ... sub'd for answers.

That top pic appears to be the RJ Manufacturing GT-R conversion with RJ Manufacturing strut brace, which means it is a recent pic. Maybe PM them or Bullitt and see if they know whose car it is or where the hoses are from.

Hoses look great, now to find the hose clamps...
|
If I didn't know better, that looks like the end of a female -8AN fitting drilled out to go over the hose, and maybe just glued there or held there by friction? I'm assuming the ARC tank ends are just barb fittings.

Braided hoses could be found in a lot of places.

It was more the sizes that I was worried about. After measuring the inlet of the hoses and tank inlets/outlets they seem to be a -10AN, so I bought a single 8, 10, and 12 hose end cover to make sure they fit over the "hump" in the ARC pipes.

Just an update:
I received the end clamps/covers and test fitted them. http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...psixgenrwq.jpg As one can see, the -12AN on the right fits over the ARC silicone hoses to include the "hump" in the inlets/outlets of the tank. However, because of the size they rest against each other whereas the pictures look like there is a bit of wiggle room between each clamp/hose. On the other hand, the -10AN on the left are too small to fit over the humps, only covering <5mm of the inlet/outlet. Unless the owners drilled out the openings of the clamps to fit, these wouldn't work. I contacted the owner of the first picture (RJM strut brace) and he said he'd get back to me but that was earlier in the week and I've yet to receive a reply. I'm going to go ahead and order a small piece of the -10AN and -12AN hoses and test how they fit. That should be the final indicator on whether the -10AN should be drilled or to just use the -12AN. |
Last update:
I received the -12/-10AN hoses and was able to test fit them. The -12AN fit over it, however as I mentioned before, with the hoses and clamps there is some contact between the pairs with the clamps/hoses installed; nothing serious, but still present. The -10AN, on the other hand, would require more work than necessary to included physically forcing it over the inlet/outlet to work. Final result: For anyone interested in using braided hoses/clamps with your ARC combo tank, you'll need the following parts: -12AN hose clamps (8ct) -12AN braided nylon/stainless steel hose pieces *ARC tanks come included with 2x 16.5" and 2x 20.5" silicone hoses. I ordered 10ft so I can route it whichever way looks best. (make sure the hose is rated for oil or better) Hope this helps and I'll post up pics whenever I have it all installed. |
