P0850: Neutral Safety Switch on an MT

I'm getting this code but there are absolutely no issues with starting, running, gear selection, gear indicator, etc. I plan to take a look to make sure there isn't a loose connection and I'd like to also change the switch while I'm there just to make sure I fix the problem.

Has anyone done this on an MT? Can I do this without removing the tranny, exhaust or anything else?

TIA for any replies!:tiphat:

not sure on Z but all my other cars had the neutral switch connected to the clutch pedal...somebody will chime in

:iagree:

probably a switch near the clutch pedal that compresses when you step on the clutch pedal. Maybe a loose connection there.

That is the code for the park/neutral switch located near bottom of shifter. FSM will have diagnosis and R&R procedures.

Edit: Switch may be located somewhere else and I'm thinking of lockout mechanism. FSM will tell ya.

reopening this thread. Has anyone figured this code out. Ive replaced my clutch and brake pedal switches and no luck. Still have this dreaded code and wanting it gone so I can pass smog coming soon.
