Just bought a used Z
Just bought a 2010 370Z from a local dealership here In Texas but I see it came from Arizona. Anyhow- it has tons of aftermarket stuff on it and I have no idea what it all is. The dealership has no clue either.. I see it has a turbo with some gauges and a tiny computer screen mounted on it. I feel ridiculous cause I have no clue what it all is but if anyone can guide me I'd appreciate it!! I've had it about a month now and it's started giving me problems.. Like it won't start 80% of the time, there's a tiny button under my shifter.. Wondering if that has anything to do with things?? Thanks y'all - Joanna :)http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...a16fd6a858.jpg

Congratz and welcome, But... You bought a heavily modded Z with no prior knowledge of the aftermarket parts included?
Maybe a nice set of pictures to get you started on here so we can visually see whats been done |
Open the hood and take a picture from the top, and then take a pic of cars front grill, then go to the back and put the cam on the floor level and try to take a pic from bottom up to see whats under, then take a few pics of the cars interior basically dashboard and gauges and make sure the car is on and idling.
then post em here, the form members will take care of the rest. PS lovely looking Z congratz. PSPS turn the car on AFTER you take the pic from the back of the car.... |
I can't help but notice the previous owner stopped short of spacers when they already presumably invested a lot in the engine and changed wheels.

Congrat's
With no knowledge of car...i would seek a dyno shop, that could make a pull & at least be able to ck. A/F ratio. Not sure where to take it in Texas....but if it's turbo-most likely has been tuned with some sort of aftermarket software. Someone on here will chime in with some optional shops. You just want to make sure that everything is tuned for pump gas.afr, timing, boost, oil etc.....& keep ane eye on oil temp/these car's are notorious for making it climb. |
HI, and in for more info...

Look between the seats, towards the back. There should a number plate mounted with a number between 1 and 500 or so. If we have the number. We can see if the old owner was a member here. This is what the plate will look like.

looks like the previous owner might have tracked it a few times due to light track wheels, roll bar, mods, etc. so theres some wear and tear with that car

How much did the dealer sell you the car?
Normally I stay away from cars that has been internally (engine) modified unless you know much about mechanical engine DIY's stuff. Hopely you did not buy a "money pit"of a nismo. We are here to help. |

^ thanks. Rusty did the heavy digging. Lucky that the page still exists.
I actually remember this car listed for sale by a dealership some years ago, I don't recall it being listed for high $ amount. |

Sold it to me for $27,000 with 18,000 miles. With a factory warranty (they wrote & promised) and I bought an extra warranty... I figured it had some sort of modifications but had no clue it had a turbocharger. I went back to the dealer and they're not helping me at all.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Im sorry to hear that. That is a reason why we call them here stealerships. Just scare them write a letter that you will sue them for denying the written warranty they promised. Try to read if there are any exceptions in the warranty. That you are not getting any help with your problems with the car. |

This is going to be a money pit down the road. I personally would never touch a car like this even with everything working properly now.....
I would find some way to return the car even if you lose a little money. I suspect that the car isn't even street legal with all these mods and I am sure that it's illegal for a dealer to sell such car, especially without disclosing it. Quote:

Oh believe me Ive tried to return with no luck.. I'm super happy that a few forum members helped me find the previous owner and now found a page from the shop that did all the mods. At least a now I know what I'm working with.. It's fun to drive and looks SWEET.. We'll see how this turns out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Call the shop and talk to them on the phone.
Does uprev have different maps that you can toggle through? Maybe youre on the e85 map or something like that. Even if they can get it working right for you, id do a compression and leakdown test and post it for sale on here with those results (assuming they show a healthy engine). You should be able to get your money back. The issue is everytime something goes wrong (just a matter of time with a hightly modified car) youll have to pay a shop to troubleshoot it, that's why its encouraged to build yourself and not buy, that way you know everything that goes on the car and what each part does and can troubleshoot it yourself. Heres another link with your car also: http://enkei.com/2010-nissan-370z-ni...car-show-area/ |
Google high crime areas nearby, leave your car there and pray someone steals it and totals it. Or, find a flood zone and park it smack dab in the middle. Geez that is a seriously modded Nismo.

LOL. Yes it is and I'll LOVE it as soon as I can figure out why it chooses when it wants to start and when it doesn't !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

also could be another problem, but lets start there. |
Glad you're in love with your car! This can be a very fun/challenging/exciting experience for you to tear it apart and learn about it, if your that sort of person. The best first step you can do after talking to the building shop would be to get it to someone who knows uprev, have them check out the tune/codes/sensors to see what's going on.
